I often look up tips and articles about screenwriting, however I’ve noticed that the do’s to don’ts ratio is incredibly low. As in a large percent of articles read ’50 reasons your script will be rejected’ ’28 things NOT to include in your screenplay’ ‘how your script is all wrong’ etc…. Would you recommend reading and learning from them? I just kind of feel the ‘rules’ seem to box me in! But I don’t know whether I’m just being ignorant and not wanting to hear the truth? Any advice?

It’s mostly because no one really knows what will get you a good, producible script, because that is constantly changing and evolving, but it’s really easy to figure out what WON’T make a good script. 

They are useful to learn, just don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by them.  The most important thing is to tell your story and have believable characters.
